Meet your coach

I'm Alex Frieg.

Fitness Trainer · Nutrition Coach

I've spent twenty-plus years coaching people one at a time, in their homes and online, across Colorado Springs. My clients range from people starting over, to golfers chasing distance, to a 70-year-old who wanted to hike a 14er, and did.

Why strength, and why now.

Ask me why strength training matters and my answer runs long, because it touches almost everything: bone density, muscle mass, metabolism, mobility, balance, power and quickness. Done properly it even carries cardiovascular benefit. There is very little in daily life it doesn't reach.

The part I care most about is what happens later. People tend to get less active as they age, and the losses compound quietly: muscle first, then bone, then balance, then the confidence to do things you used to do without thinking. My grandfather picked up strength training in his sixties and kept at it into his nineties. My dad tripped on something at work, caught himself, and stayed on his feet, because he'd been training.

That's the whole argument. Not looking a certain way. Being able to do the things you love at a higher level, rather than watching from the sidelines while other people do them.

So the programs I write are built around outcomes, not novelty. I start with a movement assessment, work out what your body actually needs, and build from there, progressively, and at a pace that fits your life rather than fighting it.

Age is just a number. You can be 45 and in better shape than someone who's 25, because you're strength training and exercising regularly.

Off the clock

I coach the way I live.

I'm a husband and a father of three. I helped my wife get into the best shape of her life after three babies, and the nutrition advice I give clients is the same food that's actually in our freezer. I don't recommend anything my own household wouldn't do on a Tuesday.

That's also why my coaching skews practical. Consistency beats intensity, sustainable beats extreme, and a plan you'll follow for five years beats a plan you'll abandon in five weeks.

In their words

Don't take it from me.

“I went to see a doctor about gastric bypass surgery because I got up to my heaviest weight. I ended up foregoing the surgery and started training with Alex. Best decision I ever made. I lost 50 lbs that year. If anyone is looking for a trainer to change their life, it is Alex Frieg.”

“My training experience with Alex took me from a middle-aged, out-of-shape man to a fine-tuned, unbelievably toned and sculpted man. He is incredibly knowledgeable as to what works in a training program to reach your individual goals, and he is right there providing motivation every step of the way.”
Marty W. Full body transformation
“Alex tailored routines that gave me confidence without tremendous soreness that can sometimes discourage staying with the routine. I lost 10 pounds relatively quickly and have improved my overall fitness significantly.”
Damian G. Fitness and golf performance
“Alex promised me 20 more yards off the tee. In truth, he greatly aided me to better health, improved strength and balance. AND, I did get the 20+ yards too.”
